Target shops closing: Complete list.

Target, facing rising theft and “organised retail crime,” will shut nine stores in four states. Despite “adding more security team members, using third-party guard services, and implementing theft-deterrent tools,” crime persisted. Affected markets, surviving stores, and employment data are below:

New York City: 517 E. 117th St., Harlem (96 shops left, over 20,000 employees)
Seattle: 4535 University Way NE , Ballard: 1448 NW Market St., Ste. 100 (22 shops left, almost 4,000 employees)
Oakland and San Francisco: SF Folsom 1690 Folsom Street, Oakland Broadway 2650 on Broadway,
Pitts-burg: 4301 Century Blvd. (32 shops left, more than 6,400 employees)
There are 15 more shops to open, with more than 2,500 employees. They are located in Portland at 939 SW Morrison St., Powell at 3031 SE Powell Blvd., and Hollywood at 4030 NE Halsey St.

In these areas, more than 150 shops are still open. Target is making the store safer by locking some items’ cases and working with the Homeland Security Investigations section of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The company said, “We will continue to make meaningful investments across our business, but we cannot solve this problem on our own.”
